Mooresville and Lake Norman are sometimes known as Race City USA. Lowes Motor Speedway is just 25-40 minutes away by car in Concord NC. During race weeks and testing it is very likely you will see helicoptors coming and going from the lake to the speedway.
The Mooresville and Lake Norman area offers so much housing in so many price ranges that drivers, team members and shop employees flock to the area to work at the various race shops. DEI is located in Mooresville off of Highway 3. Dale Jr. has his shop in the very fast growing Talbert Point business Park that also has Petty Enterprises and other race teams and race supporting companies. This area is growing like mad to support all the influx or people to this great area.
Lake Norman offers so much for the drivers, crew chiefs etc. to do and unwind. Interestingly enough you can be having dinner and spot one of the drivers in their favorite hideaway places and the locals do not bother them. It is this respect that keeps them in the area and not afraid to venture out. (Except for the 2 race weeks in May and October).
