May Not Be Lake Norman But Still a Fisherman’s Paradise! Lake Tillery

About one Hour From Charlotte, A Fisherman’s Paradise waits for you!

More about ake Tillery

Waterfront Fishing Paradise

Lake Tillery is located in the southern part of the Piedmont Triad area, about one hour east of Charlotte, North Carolina. When you look at a geographic map of North Carolina, Lake Tillery is almost right smack in the middle of the state, making it close to not only Charlotte but also Greensboro and Asheboro. Serving as the divider line between Stanly County and Montgomery County, Lake Tillery is located right beside both the Morrow Mountain State Park and the Uwharrie National Forest.

Lake Tillery is approximately 5,000 acres and has about 104 miles of shore line. The serene and relaxing spirit of the lake has managed to survive due to the management of the lake by Progress Energy, for hydroelectric production. Progress Energy restricts waterfront development, therefore maintaining a tranquil and serene lake atmosphere.

Since Lake Tillery is surrounded by the Uwharrie Mountains on one side and Morrow Mountain State Park on the other, there are a great deal of recreation opportunities on the lake. Residents and visitors can enjoy a day of hiking and exploring the areas around the lake.

Lake Tillery has also served as a haven for anglers and fishermen from all over. Most fishermen prefer Lake Tillery to most of the area’s other fishing spots because of the calm and quiet waters and atmosphere of the lake. Boating and water sports are also popular pastimes.
